Commuters in the national capital will be facing many problems travelling today due to the one-day transport strike. Transport unions have called for the strike to protest against the hefty fines imposed under the amended Motor Vehicles (MV) Act 2019. A large number of autorickshaws, taxis, Ola and Uber cab services that are used many office-goers daily, and commercial bus operators ferrying students to and from schools, will remain off the roads in Delhi-NCR. Many schools and educational institutes are closed today in view of the strike. Exams have also been postponed at some. There are also some schools that are open and have asked parents to make travel arrangements for their children. The transport services will remain affected from 6 am till 10 pm on Thursday (September 19). Meanwhile, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has promised to look into the issues.
